Blitz Broker of Record (BOR)

At Blitz, we are committed to making every step of the E&S placement process faster, clearer, and more rewarding for our broker partners. Our updated Broker of Record (BOR) process is designed to bring consistency and transparency to account ownership.

Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions related to our BOR process as of March 1st, 2026.

Does Blitz accept mid-term BORs?

We will no longer accept mid-term BORs, effective March 1, 2026

What BOR Forms does Blitz accept?

Blitz will only accept a Blitz BOR Form. We will no longer accept ACORD BOR forms, or letters drafted by our brokers. These can be found in the Resource Library in our platform https://app.blitzinsurance.com/partners/resource_library.

Is there a waiting period for a BOR on in force business?

There is a 5-calendar day waiting period on in force business that will not be waived.

What is the BOR process for new business?

If there is no active policy in place, a Blitz BOR letter can be submitted anytime up until a quote is issued. There is no waiting period for new business; the new agent becomes the broker of record when Blitz processes the BOR. Once the policy is issued, any new broker of record requests will be deferred to the renewal term.

What is the Blitz BOR process for renewals?

BOR requests on active policies are accepted within a 90-day window prior to renewal, up to the day before the effective date. The 5-day waiting period applies and will not be waived.

If no rescinding BOR is received during the waiting period, the BOR will be backdated to the original policy effective date.

If a rescinding BOR is received after the 5-day waiting period, it will be rejected and the agent will be directed to resubmit 90 days before the next renewal.

If a renewal is issued but a BOR is received before the policy is effective the above also applies. We will not waive the 5-calendar day window, it will be rejected and the broker will need to resubmit 90 days before the next renewal.

Example

If the renewal effective date is April 1st, and a BOR is received March 28th with no rescinding BOR received, the renewal policy will be cancelled and rewritten effective April 1 to the new broker of record on April 2.

Will a rescinding BOR be accepted?

For new business, rescinding BOR letters will be accepted from any agent up until the quote is issued. Once the quote is issued, the second broker must wait until the renewal term.

For renewals, the original controlling agent may submit a rescinding letter within the 5-calendar day waiting period. Once the waiting period has passed, rescinding letters will not be accepted. The original broker will need to resubmit at the next renewal term

Is a BOR required if a producer leaves an agency?

If a producer wishes to move business to a new agency, a BOR is required at renewal. A book of business release must also be approved by the agency losing the business. If the agency simply wants to reassign the business to a different producer within the same agency, no BOR is required.

Will any exceptions be made to the standard BOR process?

No exceptions will be made to the standard BOR process except in specific circumstances such as agency acquisitions or book rolls. These situations require written approval from the Blitz Chief Distribution Officer or President.

When does the 5-calendar day waiting period begin?

The waiting period begins on the day Blitz acknowledges, processes, and notifies the other agent of the BOR letter.

Example

If a BOR is received Wednesday afternoon but is not reviewed and the other broker is not notified until Thursday, the 5-day period begins on Thursday.

Where should the Blitz BOR form be submitted?

All new and renewal Blitz BOR forms should be submitted to servicing@blitzinsurance.com. For business new to Blitz, please ensure you have an active quote in the platform before submitting the BOR Form.

What other information is required along with the Blitz BOR form?

Requirements vary by situation:

New business quotes: The new agent must enter a quote in the Blitz platform before submitting the BOR form.
Renewal BOR (policy not yet issued): Once the waiting period ends, the new broker will receive a link to the renewal quote and must review and confirm all information in the platform before binding.
Renewal BOR (policy already issued): The policy will be cancelled and rewritten as-is. The new broker of record is responsible for reviewing the issued policy for accuracy and submitting any endorsement requests via self-service button in the platform or to the Broker Success team at servicing@blitzinsurance.
